There's a different view if you access a Google page today. The Google logo looks to have changed to the old game logo and icon. Today, Google Doodle presents a special edition of Champion Island Game to welcome the Tokyo Olympics which will take place from 23 July to 8 August. Not only showing doodles or ordinary two-dimensional doodles, users can also play a number of Olympic-themed games through today's doodles. To start playing this game, simply press the "play" button on the doodle. After pressing the button, a ninja cat named Lucky will appear. He is an athlete who will explore seven sports mini-games on Champion Island.
Lucky must win each game to collect all seven sacred scrolls and complete all hidden challenges along Champion Island. Some of the games that must be played are rugby, artistic swimming, rock climbing, marathon, tennis, and others. Then there are four mascot teams that will be met, namely Team Blue-Ushi, Team Red-Karasu, Team Yellow-Inari, and Team Green-Kappa. Users can control the movement of this Lucky character using the arrow keys on the keyboard. This game adopts RPG gameplay with an old look. On the Google Doodle page, the graphic design of today's Pulau Champion mini-game is a collaboration between Google and an animation studio from Tokyo, STUDIO 4°C. STUDIO 4°C said they had to identify stories from mini-games and folk tales from all over Japan with very recognizable characters. Then, they connect the folklore and the characters to be placed in each of the sports in the game.
Here's the gameplay and preview
"The design of each character is based on the original story images, but later adapted for the game," explains STUDIO 4°C. "We hope people can enjoy the game and make it to the end," said STUDIO 4°C. To try out the Google Doodle Welcomes Tokyo Olympics, you can access it via the following link.
